Louré
2024Released only when ready to drink — ready for the table.
Baroque texture meets saline depth. A white wine with shoulders, richness and maturity.
The Louré, a Baroque dance characterized by its measured, solemn character and emphasized line, embodies serious grace and noble expression – qualities that also define this wine. In both the vineyard and the cellar, the pursuit of balance was paramount. This Sauvignon Blanc is vinified in a fuller, gastronomic style, with a ripe, multifaceted fruit profile that combines depth and expressiveness. The long maturation in oval clay amphorae allows for natural yeast movement over many months, imparting to the wine an enveloping, precisely structured texture of remarkable tranquility and long aging potential. The long, harmonious finish makes the Louré a wine that connects time and food – whether with fish in sauce, poultry, or fine cheese. It is a wine that not only accompanies but reveals new facets with every glass.

Louré forms the deliberate counterweight to linearity. It exists to show that white wine in Bordeaux may take up space – through texture, not through volume.

The flavour profile
A ripe, multi-layered fruit — yellow fruit and a hint of citrus, with a fine herbal depth. Full and gastronomic on the palate: an enveloping, precise texture from the long ageing in oval clay amphorae, carried by fresh acidity and a long, quiet finish. A white wine with stature that joins time and food.
Zwei Jahre gereift
2024 (white): A very wet winter and spring with an early, unusually heavy infestation of powdery mildew; persistent dampness characterized the season. Flowering and fruit set suffered in some cases (Coulure/Millerandage), September was cool and wet – overall the smallest harvest since 1991. Nevertheless, the dry white wines often present themselves as aromatic, vibrant and fresh, and rather light in alcohol.

Where it comes from
A single-varietal wine, one origin
Each plot is vinified separately; only at the end does the cuvée emerge. More about our terroirs.

Aged in our own cellar.
Aged under control in barrel and vinified plot by plot — then the years of bottle rest in our own cellar, until we consider the wine ready to drink.

In the tradition of modern oenology
Aux Conseillans was for decades the domaine of Jean Ribéreau-Gayon — one of the co-founders of modern oenology, founder of the Institute of Oenology at the University of Bordeaux (1949) and longtime owner of the estate. We work in this tradition: each plot analysed and vinified separately, the ageing guided under control, the release only after proven readiness to drink.
Why we take the trouble
Released only when ready to drink
We bring a vintage to market only when it is ready to drink. We carry the ageing risk.
Composed plot by plot
Each plot is vinified separately; only at the end do we compose the cuvée from them.
Time as an ingredient
Depth needs time. We give the wines the years in barrel and bottle that they need.
Organic & HVE 4
Certified organic, embedded in a 19-hectare ecosystem of woodland, meadows, water and vines.

A wine for the table.
A wine to conduct a demanding dinner to perfection.
Dishes that pair well

A playlist for the moment
This wine comes with a mood playlist on Spotify — a flowing companion as you drink. Listen in if you like; it isn't necessary.

We release each wine only when we most like to drink it ourselves.Marc & Ellen Ruhland
