Aromatics: the whole, not one axis

The standard

A reading of aromatics separated by dimension names the strength, variety, distinctness and duration of the aromas each in its own right, rather than merging them into one overall impression.

Criteria

• The individual aroma dimensions are named separately, not averaged
• The collective term replaces none of the dimensions it covers
• The origin of the aromas in variety, fermentation and ageing stays distinguishable

Distinction

Aromatics ≠ structure: aromatics is the picture of scent, structure the frame of acid, tannin and alcohol. Aromatics ≠ aroma precision: aromatics separated by dimension means the whole aromatic picture, aroma precision only the distinctness of its notes.
