Intervention depth: how deep, not how often

The standard

A declared intervention depth classifies each operation by whether it merely accompanies the wine, stabilises it, or alters its composition, and so shows how far the cellar's hand reaches.

Criteria

• Each intervention is assigned a depth: accompanying, stabilising or altering
• Physical guidance such as temperature or racking is kept separate from material change
• The statement names the intervention, not only its result
• It judges depth, not frequency

Distinction

Intervention depth ≠ intervention density: density counts how often one intervenes, the declared intervention depth measures how deeply a single intervention reaches. Intervention depth ≠ Low Intervention: Low Intervention is a stance, intervention depth a measure.
