Aroma complexity: variety, not strength
The standard
A count of distinguishable aromas records how many independent scents are perceptible, regardless of how powerful or how clearly separated they appear.
Criteria
- What is counted are independent notes, not the force of the scent
- Variety counts not as higher, but as a property of its own
- With bottle ageing, tertiary variety joins the youthful fruit
Distinction
Aroma complexity ≠ aroma precision: a count of distinguishable aromas describes the variety, aroma precision the distinctness of the single note. Aroma complexity ≠ aroma intensity: the one counts the notes, the other measures their strength.
