The standard

Parcel-precise management assigns each measure to the place where it takes effect, rather than averaging it over the whole area. Its basis is maps of soil, growth and ripeness, not an average across the vineyard.

Criteria

• The area is divided into zones of equal properties
• Each zone follows its own moment of ripeness and harvest
• Measures follow measured, not assumed, difference
• The average over the area does not replace the single zone

Distinction

Precision viticulture ≠ parcelling: parcelling divides the area, while parcel-precise management treats each part differently. Precision viticulture ≠ greater effort: it shifts effort to where it takes effect rather than increasing it.
