Stability model: a framework, not a warranty

The standard

A complete stability model names which kinds of stability it covers instead of asserting “stable” without reference. It makes visible the gap that a single test leaves open.

Criteria

  • It names each covered kind of stability individually
  • It separates tested from untested states
  • It names the conditions under which it holds
  • It stays correctable when a new instability appears

Distinction

Stability model ≠ stability: stability is the state, the model the order in which it is judged. A complete stability model does not replace a measurement, it structures it. Stability model ≠ haze: the haze is a finding, the model the frame that places it.
