• It is distinguished from the origin designation, which only names the growing area
• It rests on physical factors, not on the reputation of the appellation
• Its attribution occurs through comparison across several wines, not in a single glass

Distinction

Terroir expression ≠ Appellation logic: admissibility, not merit: appellation logic governs the eligibility of a geographic designation, not a tastable property. Evidenced terroir expression ≠ a single-glass perception: it requires comparing several vintages of the same site.
