The standard

A declared stylistic intent names the intended result before the means and makes the cellar decisions verifiable against it. What counts are duration of extraction, share of wood, level of alcohol and the moment of harvest.

Criteria

• The aim is formulated before the procedure
• Every means can be assigned to the aim
• Extraction counts as a decision, not as a measure
• The style stays recognisable across vintages without overriding them

Distinction

Modern style ≠ moment in time: the term names an intention, not an era. Modern style ≠ less structure: precision presupposes a frame, it does not replace one. A declared stylistic intent therefore excludes no way of making wine, but requires that it be justified.
