Why is it called LaSuite aux Conseillans?

La Suite is a name with many layers – musical, historical, and programmatic. A suite is the idea of structuring a great work into clearly defined movements – each independent, yet together forming a harmonious whole. This principle shapes our winery.

The Musical Suite: Like baroque suites (Prélude, Allemande, Courante, Sarabande, Gigue), our wine collection follows a dramatic order. Each wine is its own movement – a Capriccio made from 100% Alvarinho is playful, while a Sarabande from classic Bordeaux varieties carries depth and gravitas.

Continuing a Legacy: The name also represents continuation. For many years, the estate belonged to Jean Ribéreau-Gayon, founding father of modern oenology and co-founder of Bordeaux's oenological faculty. His pursuit of precision and experimentation shapes our work today.

New Bordeaux: We represent a fresh approach – elegant wines with moderate alcohol, direct relationships with wine lovers, and regenerative agriculture on an estate that has been a designated nature reserve since 1975.

The Fermata Symbol: The fermata in our emblem marks the moment of pause that gives space to the new – a breath before the melody continues with fresh color.

Aux Conseillans: This comes from the official name of our land. Historical Cassini maps from Napoleon's time already described our location as "Aux Conseillans." We maintain this connection to our terroir and our estate, Domaine aux Conseillans.
